What is a Domestic Energy Performance Certificate?
A domestic energy performance certificate (EPC) tells you how energy efficient your home is and recommends improvements that would lead to a reduction in your household energy bills. Your home is rated A-G, with A being the most energy efficient.
The EPC also tells you the environmental impact of your property, based upon carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Why do you need a domestic EPC?
- All houses and flats that are on the market for sale must now have a Home Information Pack (HIP). The HIP includes an Energy Performance Certificate.
- All houses and flats that are now rented to new tenants must have a valid Energy Performance Certificate.
- EPC’s are valid for 10 years.
